Following your post-operative instructions precisely will provide you the best chance of healing without complications. After you have an oral surgery procedure, you will want to watch carefully for the following signs or symptoms:
- Swelling of your face and jaw that doesn’t seem to be improving, or is getting worse. Normal surgical swelling usually starts to improve after a couple of days.
- Swollen neck lymph nodes
- Oozing discharge/pus
- Difficulty opening your mouth (trismus)
- Fever
Take your post-operative antibiotics (if applicable) as prescribed until they are gone.
Having one or more of these symptoms does not always mean that you have an infection. If you have concerns that you might have an infection, please call our office (206) 561-2345.
