Impacted Teeth

An impacted tooth is a tooth that has become stuck below your gums and/or bone and cannot break through. The tooth can be oriented in virtually any direction. Although this can occur with any tooth in your mouth, wisdom teeth are the most likely to be impacted.

Some symptoms of an impacted tooth include:

  • Redness or swelling around the area
  • Headache and/or jaw pain
  • Bad breath
  • Swelling of your jaw
  • Difficulty opening your jaw
  • Bad taste in your mouth
  • A gap between your teeth
  • Swollen lymph nodes in your neck
  • Sometimes no symptoms at all

If you are experiencing these symptoms, you can rinse with warm salt-water.  Ibuprofen and/or Tylenol also helps with the pain.  The number to reach us for a consultation is (206) 561-2345.
